An aspiring Historian with a passion for Teaching
Mini-Bio:
My love for American History began when I visited the Gettysburg National Military Park while on a family vacation when I was 12 years old. Standing in the very place where Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address and walking the battlefields where thousands perished in the conflict that ultimately eradicated slavery from America was profound. While taking a Historiography class during my senior year of college, I learned that professional historians don't dedicate their time to simply memorizing past events, but instead investigating just how and why those events transpired. It was at this juncture in my life that I decided to dedicate my career to the study and teaching of American History.
Mission:
I do NOT expect all of my students to love history or become historians. I DO want each of my students to realize that the skills you acquire in my class transcend the history classroom; in fact these skills are meant for the real world and will make you more qualified for any career you choose to pursue. You will learn these skills by doing what real life Historians do: viewing the past as a puzzle that will never fully be solved, and investigating it as such. History is not a single narrative: there is A LOT of room for interpretation, and that is what makes the study of history so captivating!
