The Salem witch trials began in the spring of 1603. A group of girls were said to be possessed by the devil. When they were really practicing witch craft. As moths went by, the court began to think that many people were worshiping the devil. So then the court made guilty verdicts to hang every one that was working the devil

What I found surprising about the article was that they accused children of practicing witchcraft. Something else that I found to be interesting is that it lasted for centuries. One more interesting thing that I found is that some events in the book "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller are the same as those discussed in the article about the girls being bewitched by Tituba, Sarah Good, and Sarah Osborn. Something significant about this article is that there was no circumstantial evidence that proved the accused to be guilty.

What was surprising about the Salem Witch Trials is that 150 more men, women and children were accused of witchcraft. The fact that it also had lasted for centuries was a bit shocking consider that i thought it was only for a couple years. There was also the fact that life in a rural Puritan community of salem village at the time was after the British war with france, a smallpox epidemic and the fear kf being attacked by Native American Tribes. One last thing would also be that The Crucible had real characters within the play while just creating a dramatization of what actually happened; i thought the characters in the book were just made up but just having the setting as a real event pretty much like a partially fictional depiction of tbe actual event.

What I found interesting was that the Salem Witch Trials were about the fear of woman's independence. Back then woman were seemed as weak. Any threating behavior was blamed on the devil. People were just acussing each other of being witches. However the Puritans thought that they were doing the right thing. In result 19 people were killed and later on others were killed too.

Something that I found very shocking was, even young children were hanged if they were accused of witchcraft and another thing was very surprising were there no reasonable evidence the accusers used to even support their judgement against other people.Lastly innocent people were killed but the actually people who were practicing witchcraft lived.

I found very amazing that young girls and women believed that they were posed by the devil . Also , Samuel Sewall was hanged 8 days later after accused of being a witch. It's very sad that innocent people where killed of being accused of being a witch however those who actually witchcraft survived .

What I found surprising was that the Salem witch trails went on for a month. 150 more people of all ages died based off of accusations but none of the judicial representatives thought to say that the children were lying. Puritans in my perspective were always a little naive for there own good and this trait I feel clouded their judgement. If only they had known cases like this shouldn't take place in the same region the crime was committed in because this is an excellent example of why.

I found interesting how there is a scientific hypothesis as to what cause the symptoms to the girls that were supposedly bewitched. The hysteria of the people were partly due to fear of many things like the fear of starvation, Indians etc.it lasted less than i thought which was about 5-6 months. The creation of a special court a.k.a Court of Oyer and Terminer i founded interesting.

what i found fascinating is that they accused anyone of being a witch if you make a mistake and say something they don't understand. They would hang young children if they suspected them of doing witchcraft and the fact that this went on for centuries is ridiculous , why did they have it go on for so long ?

I found interesting that girls accused old women being the witches but when reality it could have been other people. Therefore another thing I found important is many people die. Last thing I found interesting is it took 150 years for the witchcraft to end.

The ignorance of these people who accuse about 150 men, women and children surprised me. The salem witch trials was very unfair accusing not only the members of that family but also the other generations.

what I found intriguing was that 150 women and men were accused of committing sins and being witches even though there was no solid evidence of this. The puritans believed the girls that so wrongfully accused them without looking more into the so called facts they presented. I was also surprised about how long these heinous events lasted considering that these people were actually innocent.

After reading the article one thing i find surprising is that witchcraft actually emerged in Europe, a very religious place and to think something like this would come from it. It was very interesting to find out that Bridget Bishop was the first women to be killed in the Salem witch Trials. for some reason i feel like that's something good to know. I found shocking that even children were killed during this.

i am surprised at how upset i got. some of these young girls had no reason to accuse the elderly women of being possed by the devil they just did it because the girls were more vulnerable. when i watched the video, i felt so bad for the old lady. she had her life taken away from therm for just being an old lady. this was tragic. if i were there i think i would have taken her place and let them lynch me instead. i am so upset.

After Watching The Video and reading through the article , what caught my interest was the fact that mostly Women were known for practicing " witchcraft " and that they felt women were more easily influenced to sin by the devil. What Also Caught my eye was that they would hang Children who they felt also was being corrupted by the devil. What I also learned was that the Salem with trials went on for centuries & Bridget Bishop was the first woman killed in the trails. How Could some men , woman and even children be killed based off of accusations ?

I learned about how women during this tme period were accused often because of their underclass beyond men. The allegations of older women were most Efficiently used being blamed of a sin. Another fact i learned was how their justice system was unfairly trialed having no evidence to clear their names of such guilty accusations. 😁👌🏾

I never even knew that witches were real and that actual trials were happening to solve cases of it, so reading this had me really surprised and fascinated. It made me feel bad that so many people were accused of something without any solid evidence other than someones word; in some cases a doctors "evaluation". I thought that the punishment of hanging was cruel. However, I thought that the most significant part was that witchcraft and witches have been around for so long, since the late 1600's, and that the first woman prosecuted for this was Bridget Bishop

The Salem Trials were fueled by resentment and suspicions from residents towards neighbors. The first cases were from a 9 and 11 year old. William Phips established a special court to hear the witch cases as the local justice system was overwhelmed. The Massachusetts General Court later said the trials were unlawful.

It is interesting that 150 women, men and children were accused of committing sins and being witches without any actual evidence. Another interesting thing is that a day of fasting was made for the apology of the innocent who were killed during the Salem witch trial. The fact that at the end having nine witches out of ten people escape was better to them then having one innocent person be condemned. Another thing that caught my attention is that Arthur Miller wrote the crucible based on th Salem witch trial as an allegory for anti-communist "witch hunts".

What I found very Intresting is that people would accuse those women of witchcraft but never had any solid evidence. What I found surprising is that people were also accusing children and I found that shocking because children are children some don't even notice the things that they do and at this time period they were killed for something that they not only didn't have evidence but wasn't true. In total 150 women, men, and children were accused of witchcraft with basically no proof. The first women to be prosecuted was for this was Bridget Bishop.

Something else that was surprising to me is that they killed lots of innocent adults and children. There was no evidence of this "whitchcraft" thing so people were just being killed for no reason.

What I found interesting was that, In the late 1600s, a party of girls were accused by possession of the devil. An elderly women was accused of witchcraft. Later on, men and children were also accused of witchcraft. Officials believe that women were easily taken by the devil. They were no evidence leading to this horrible event.

Watching this video I've learned many things about the puritans. For one, that the fear of loosing their religious purpose is what caused the witch trials. Second, that woman we thought of as lustful, and weak natures that were easily tempted into sin. Lastly , I learned that the most vulnerable people in the town were the one that were accused of being witches by the younger women. (Late blog post due to technical problems that are now fixed)

Found it somewhat stupid how the say so from a group of girls led too the hangings of innocent women, men , and children. their was no official proof that their was actually any type of witchcraft going on. But i did agree of how after the General Court later annulled guilty verdicts against accused witches and granted indemnities to their families.

It was surprising they accused children of witchcraft. At the time in a rural Puritan Community of Salem Village after the British was ith France there was a smallpox epidemic and the fear of being attacked by Native Americans. Any threatening behavior was blamed on the devil or on the people of doing witchcraft. Its interesting that it lasted for so long and that Puritans thought they were doing the right thing even thought 19 people were killed and many were imprisoned and found guilty.
